C-130 Avionics Modernization Programs

For more than three decades, Lockheed C-130 Hercules aircraft have served as workhorses in many of the world’s tactical military airlift operations. That lifespan can now be extended well into future decades through Spar’s extensive maintenance and structural programs. With the advent of satellite-based communication and navigation systems, however, the C-130 cockpit will require modernization to keep pace with free flight concepts, higher density commercial traffic, and stricter air traffic regulations intended for improving the efficiency and safety of global air traffic.

Global Positioning System (GPS)

Spar can install any approved GPS system required
in single or dual configuration, coupled to the Autopilot.

Spar Aerospace Limited (Spar) has a great deal of expertise in the field of avionics modifications to Transport Category aircraft. Spar employees bring the full value of this expertise to engineering, installation and TCA/FAA STA/STC approval services for systems such as the KLN-900 Global Positioning System (GPS) on Boeing 737 and 727 aircraft. Systems are installed on time, on budget and without interruption to ‘business as usual’ for the customer.

Other Systems Available:

Collins 4000, Honeywell HT9100, Trimbal 2100 I/O, Marconi CMA 900

KLN 900 Bendix Approach Certified GPS Navigation System

The KLN 900 incorporates the latest GPS satellite derived navigation technology and can easily be installed in the pedestal of most aircraft. This type of installation saves customers a significant amount of time and money.
Having the KLN 900 in your pedestal or panel is like having a large reference book at your disposal. Charts and radio frequency information is at your fingertips, and convenient controls make it easy to access primary source navigation and flight information.
